Day in DC

***Please Scroll Down to see two other New Entries! ***

On Easter Saturday, we met Stew's cousin Tanya in Washington, D.C. However Stew was in charge of the camera and managed not to get any pictures of Tanya! Please send us some Tanya if you have them!

Here are Jacob and Stew on the carousel just outside Smithsonian Castle. Of course the horse had to be green!

I think you can just about see the Capitol building in the background.

Bexx and Jacob at Washington Monument. Even though it doesn't look that sunny, Stew and Bexx got sunburnt. In our defence, it had been raining when we left MD. Luckily Jacob didn't get burnt as he sensibly opted for long sleeves.

Jacob has nearly perfected his "Mr. Perfect" pose. Just got to close that gap between elbow and knee! Here he is at the World War II memorial.

Shenandoah

On our way home from Luray we drove part of the Skyline Drive through Shenandoah National Park. Bexx was convinced that she would spot a bear but no luck this time! It was incredibly beautiful, however it was really odd because although the rest of Virginia is in the full bloom of Spring, the Park was still near freezing temperatures and there was very little evidence of Winter's end.

We were really lucky though because the Skyline Drive normally has an $15 entry fee but because it was Good Friday we got in free!

Camping!

We had a wonderful time camping at Jellystone Park in Luray. In the States, these are a chain of camping resorts. We stayed in a log cabin with a shower & toilet, as well as a refridgerator. Other than beds, there wasn't a lot else provided - it was about as basic as Bexx can manage! But it was lots of fun and our "deal" included golf cart hire for the duration of our stay, as well as lots of other fun activities like mini golf, laser tag and bouncey pillows.

Sadly, it doesn't seem like Jacob has picked up Nana & Grandpa's flair for golf, but he enjoyed it. I am not sure he quite grasped the idea of crazy golf.

Jacob wasn't allowed to drive the golf cart (surprisingly!) but he had lots of fun pretending with his friend Layne. We played hide and seek on the golf carts in the dark which was lots of fun, the girls' team cheated a little bit by persuading the rangers to help! Stew almost crashed the golf cart on several occasions, doing daft things like pressing the accelerator pedal whilst Bexx was driving.

Out for a curry

Well after some very fun and active swimming in Prince Frederick, we are out for a curry for Jacob's birthday. We have no idea what we are getting because here at the Bollywood Masala looking at the menu is discouraged!
